About Heather Hart

 

I graduated from Indiana University in 1993 and earned my Masters degree in 2001 from Indiana Wesleyan University. I began my teaching career in 1997 and presently still enjoy going to school everyday. I quickly became very involved in my High School by becoming the Algebra I Curriculum Team Leader. I have served on different committees with the middle school teachers to seam the gaps between the two levels and curriculums. I have been a leader in my school district by joining the School Improvement Committee and leading the School Data Team. I also sit on the School Districts Cabinet for Curriculum Mapping. I created, developed, and teach the successful Center Grove High School's version of "Math Lab" for struggling Algebra I students. In October 2005, I was elected onto the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics Board of Directors.

I have had the opportunity to be involved with many state initiatives. I have been an Algebra I Core 40 Item Reviewer since 2003. I have written test questions for McGraw Hill and have worked at the Indiana Department of Education on different curriculum projects during the summer months. During that time and since, I have enjoyed attending the Indiana Education Round Table meetings and keep current on education issues.

I always have the struggling students closest to my heart. I develop creative activities and lessons that Engage, Motivate and Excite all students to learn Mathematics. I am a dedicated and passionate teacher. I demand success at high levels from all of my students and believe in all of them. I have always felt the hardest part of teaching is knowing when to yell at students or when to hug them.

Besides being a proud teacher, I am happily married and I am a mother of two. My family means everything to me. Thank You and I love you.
